No, heated curlers do not have individual batteries in each curler. They work by being heated in a seperate device. The curlers sit in the device until you are reasy to use them. When you put them in your hair they are already pre heated from the device that they were sitting in.

Heated curlers come in a case or holder that you can plug into an electrical outlet for them to heat up. The curlers have metal inside (felt outside so they don't burn you) that heats up when they are in the holder and that allows them to curl your hair.
