Groups of people reacted differently to the Vietnam war, with some guilty about participating, others morally outraged that we abandoned South Vietnam to the Viet Cong, and others morally conflicted between loyalty for country on the one hand and a deep commitment to peace on the other.

The war made a generation start to question authority and ideas of loyalty.
