Roe v. Wade ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court on appeal from the U.S. District Court in Texas on behalf of "Jane Roe" (Norma L. McCorvey), through her attorneys, Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington. On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ms. McCorvey with a 7-2 majority, deeming abortion a fundamental right under the Constitution
