how could you stop slices of an apple turning brown?

You can cut the apples, then put them in a brine of a cup of water and a tablespoon of salt. This prevents oxidation. Don't worry, it doesn't taste salty at all!!!!!

All you have to do is squeeze some type of citrus juice over them and they will not discolor. You can use lemon, orange or even grapefruit.

To prevent oxidation (which is what turns apple slices brown), apply lemon juice to both sides of the sliced apples using a spray bottle or a pastry brush. This is the most common way to prevent this "browning" of apples. Of course, you could also slice the apples by hand under water and leave them there till needed.
