False positives on pregnancy tests are rare, as the test measure for a hormone that is only present in women who are pregnant or have just had a baby.

I don't believe it is that common. Not only am I am om of 2, I also have a large mommies group. Out of all the conversations I've had with them, as well as all the pregnancy books I have read, I have never heard of this happening.
