How can you make sure a blended family works?

I have two children and my fiance has three.

Keep good communication in the family and keep everyone's feelings in mind. Children in these situations sometimes feel jealousy towards one another. So, you'll have to make sure that every child gets their one on one time with their parent as well as good quality family time. Keep patient and good luck!

Offer benefits to getting along and obeying both parents such as increased allowance, more tv time, etc. Punishments for arguments should be appropriate to the age.

Do not demand that the children call each other sister and brother. Decide in advance that the step-parent has or doesn't have permission to discipline, then clearly communicate that to the children.

By showing affection to all and let the children understand that they are equal and since you as parents want a good life for them they need to love one another and accept one another unconditionally. Again lead by example and everyone will follow you.
