Make a heart symbol by using the shift key and the arrow above the comma and then adding a number three. You may also use images on your text edit application, under symbols.

There are several ways to do this. First, click edit and then click special characters, click on the heart symbol and then click insert. Another option is to look at your fonts. Most of the fonts with "ding" in there name are symbol characters and one should include a heart.

You can go to edit, special characters and it should be somewhere in the list. I don't have my iBook with me at the moment, otherwise I would give you a character id. I'm pretty sure there is a shortcut, but I don't remember exactly what that shortcut was. There are a lot of symbols in the special characters thing.
