How can you go about correcting wood stain mistakes?

I guess I should have been more careful!

Once the stain has been applied, the only way to correct any mistakes is to sand the complete area back down, and reapply the wood stain. If the stain has set in too deeply, the area may even need to be bleached before reapplying the stain. For small corrections, hand sanding works best.

The area in which the mistake was made needs to be sanded down and then the whole area needs to be stained over again in order to have flush consistency.

If the mistake is small you could simply sand down the area until it is gone. If it is too deep to sand out then you will probably have to bleach the wood. Go buy a container of wood bleach from yoru local hardware store. Follow the directions and it should remove the imperfection.

It really depends on how bad of a mistake you made. You could just sand off the extra stain that was placed on by mistke and then just continue with the project.

Use sandpaper, and lightly sand the areas that you wish to correct. You can use a belt sander but for smaller areas I suggest hand sanding.

When you make a mistake staining wood you can fix the mistake, but it will take a some effort. You will have to sand the wood until the undesirable marks are no longer visible. Keep in mind that you will have to sand the whole surface so there is not just a hole in the wood where the problem was.
