When it comes to tulips one of the most important things to remember is that tulips require active watering, (at least once a day) and constant fertilizing and maintenance in order to have beautiful healthy tulips similar to Amsterdam's.

Not all tulips in Amsterdam look that great. If hail or a late frost ruins them, nobody takes a picture. Plant a lot, in the sun, and protect against slugs.
