In the Netherlands in general and Amsterdam in particular it is not illegal to own or use marijuana but its not technically legal to sell it unless you are an authorized vendor. Basically stick to the cannibis cafes and don't smoke on the street and you will be fine. You can be fined for jailed for public intoxication.

The official sale of marijuana is not legal in Amsterdam. It is something that is tolerated though and the police tend to overlook it. Citizens are unable to smoke out in public and most do it in special shops known as "coffee shops". Use is tolerated but in small amounts only.

Marijuana is a legal product in all of Amsterdam. It is sold in shops around the city just like anything else. But be careful about leaving the city with marijuana.

You can purchase and smoke marijuana in coffee shops where it is offered on the menu. Alcohol and marijuana may not be sold in the same establishment.

Amsterdam has very liberal laws when it comes to marijuana, and marijuana can be purchased and smoked in many cafes throughout Amsterdam. Note, however, that laws regarding other drugs are not as lax.

Amesterdam has laws on the books outlawing the use of marijuana and prescribing punishments for offenders. However, these laws are not strictly enforced.
