Gt a skin and start there and make sure its a hunting dog you are trying to train you need to let them smell what you want them to find.

Try to get the attention of dog on you and what you are doing, let them think..use toys ( E.g. Squirrel )with string and play with them ,like hunting..And whenever they catch it you have appreciate and give some treat. Continues the steps in different places (open places)daily.
