This question is a very easy question to answer. First a ton of cooling is equal to 12,000 BTU's. Normally all manufactures' model numbers give a clue to the answer. 1.5 tons is denoted by 18. 2 by 24. 2.5 by 30. 3 by 36. 3.5 by 42. 4 by 48 and 5 by 60.

Well if you want to tell how big the unit is, then you can look at the model number and punch it in to google. They will take you exact amount.

Well basically you can look at the model number and original box that the air conditioning unit came in. The box should have the weight and tons of the unit accordingly.
