send them a copy of the death certificate along with the account number. they may also be calling you because they are unable to get in contact with the estate holder, if that is you, you can either send a cease and desist letter. they may just need to find out about the estate.

If you inherited your father's estate, then you have also inherited his debts that he did not pay before he died. So legally, it is your responsibility to pay them off. Even if it isn't, just pay them off and they will leave you alone.

If you did not cosign for the debt, you have no obligation. Send them copies of his death certificate. If they continue to call, send cease and desist letters with a copy of the death certificate. If they call again, get a lawyer - collecting from family members is illegal.

A lot of times people like to lie and say that the person is dead to avoid having to talk to creditors. So the best thing to do is to send them a copy of his death certificate.
