How can I start learning how to play the ukulele?

There are a number of websites that can provide you with tutorials. These may be either pictorial and text or video. The other way I would suggest would be to join a local ukulele group. The members will be able to give you tips and advice on how to play and how to improve your playing skills.

You could try to find a guitar instructor and learn some basic technique since the instruments are related, or you could probably just learn by ear or online. Try asking at your public school.

Find a ukulele instructor and take some lessons. In my experience of learning different instruments on my own and from instructors, instruction usually has the best results.

The best way must be the personal teacher or the music school. Otherwise, it is actually possible to learn "alone" by visiting specialized web sites, knowing that the ukulele tuned in GCEA and that it is a "guitar-like" instrument for the basic technic.

Soprano ukulele would be great for beginners. Go to website ukehunt. First learn how to read tabs and chords and find easy songs for you and play.

Make sure that when you buy your uke, you buy it at a music store that also sells books to learn how to play it.

You can go to a shop that specializes in uniques musical instruments and they may have an instruction manual. You could also find someone who knows how to play the ukulele and ask them to try and teach you by giving you lessons.

I suggest looking up some videos on youtube. There you can find some videos for beginners and videos on how to play specific songs. Good luck!
