How can I speed up a slow shutdown?

My shut down is extremely slow.

Follow the tips for speeding up a slow shutdown.Cutting down programs and processes running in the background.Scanning the fragmenting the computer.Altering paging file Settings.Checking the device drivers.

To speed-up your shutdown process you need to close all runnign programs before clicking on shutdown. this can drastically reduce your shutdown time. Other good suggestion is to regularly make a disk defragmetation.

Click Start,Run, then Regedit and OK Look for the following keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop WaitToKillAppTimeout - change the value 20,000 for 4000. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control WaitToKillAppTimeout - change the value 20,000 for 4000

there's a lot of factors that could effect this, but here are a few things to check. 1) you may have a lot of programs running in the background, try removing some of them. 2) you may have a slow computer, maybe more RAM will help?
