Search on your computer for "System Restore". This will reset your computer back to a date to fix any problems you had. It's not a good idea to use this if you had a virus. If you don't have system restore, you can do a format of the hard-drive and reinstall your operating system to clean up.

You can restore your computer using a recovery disc if you made one when you got the computer, or if it came with the computer. Also most computers come with a Recovery Partition. You can usually access this by pressing F8 repeatedly when your computer first comes on. This is pretty much done the same as having the disc.

Click Start Button, Point to All Programs, Point to Accessories, Point to System Tools and Click System Restore. Click Next and pick an earlier date, and Restore your computer settings.

Go into the control panel and then to system restore. Create a restore point that will return your system to desired settings and then run the system restore. (Windows Vista)
