How can I get Yahoo mail in Mozilla Thunderbird?

Answer by  Jessicac (13)

Yahoo mail doesn't support outside email browsers like Mozilla Thunderbird or Outlook Express unless you upgrade to their premium account. The premium account is a paid service with a monthly fee. Google mail, or gmail, will allow it with a free account. If you want your yahoo email to come through Mozilla Thunderbird, you will have to upgrade your account.

You can't get it if you have Thunderbird alone. Though good news! There is a program called YPOPs that will let you collect your yahoo mail with Thunderbird. Go and download that program and then look up a step by step instructions online that will guide you for setting up yahoo mail with both programs.

In order to view yahoo mail from a second mail client, you have to upgrade to the paid yahoo account. After you do this, you are able to forward your mail from the mail account to the new account that you want to use. A year of the premium yahoo mail is 19.99 usd

YPops! is an opensource application developed to simulate a browser environment through which you download e-mail to a mail client such as Thunderbird. This may result in termination of your Yahoo account, however. Configure the settings within Thunderbird according to Yahoo's outgoing and incoming mail servers.
