How can I get rid of pesky gnats?

There are lots of things you can try. Citronella candles are effective for short distances outdoors. Indoors you can try fly strips. If you use an insect spray, make sure it is safe for pets. You should also make sure you keep all food covered and put away so the gnats don't have anything to eat.

Insect repellent would be your best bet. Sprays are available for both humans and canines. If the repellent isn't your choice a citronella candle nearby may help.

You may try getting some sort of candle or bug spray to repel the gnats or some type of mosquito netting to cover the area. Be sure there are no standing pools of water where insects may reproduce around the surrounding area.

It is very hard to get rid of gnats once they are in your home. The best way is prevention. Don't leave any fruit laying around, that's what they seek. Gnats will also get in the sink drain and breed. There is a gnat trap that you can make.

Fill a glass half full with red wine and place it on a level surface where the gnats frequent. They will be attracted by the wine and drown in it.
