I clean my microwave by putting a bowl of water and vinegar (any ratio) in and start starting a cook cycle for 2-3 mins. This is long enough to heat the water to boiling point. Let it sit for 10 minutes(to steam the inside of the oven)then easily wipe the inside clean. The vinegar neutralizes odor.

To get rid of microwave odor, you'll want to first wipe and scrub out any visible detritus. After that, mix up a paste of baking soda and water. Wipe it on the exposed surfaces and leave it for awhile. Once it starts to dry, wipe it off, and it should have absorbed most of the odors.

You basically just need to clean it thoroughly, but don't use any harsh chemicals because some residue will remain and the fumes might affect the food you cook in there. Use a mild detergent and clean thoroughly. Then, leave the door open to let it air out.

Make sure it's unplugged, then take a washcloth and use a gentle cleaner such as Dawn liquid dish soap, lather it with some warm water, and scrub down the microwave. Then take a cloth with plain warm water and rinse it down. This should get rid of odor.
