If you have had your male dog around a female that is in heat and he doesn't look to breed then you should take him to the vet.

A male dog can be checked for health issues that can lower libido including infection, hip problems, hormonal issues etc. The common problem is the female is not quite ready.

Genrally the best way to get a male dog to breed is to put them in a pen with a female dog in heat. Its instinct after that. You should also leave them alone and let nature take its course.

Well, you should try to introduce him to a female that is in heat. Though if he isn't interested in the female, then he isn't interested. Try again with another.

Try putting him together with a female dog which is in heat. Make sure he is healthy and active. Having another male dog present may stimulate his competative instinct.

To get your male dog to breed, you should start with buying a book at any local pet store on dog breeding, this book will answer any and all questions you will have on the subject. And obviously you will need a female dog as well. Good Luck.

He should be ready to breed by the time he's one year old. He might be able to breed sooner, but at the very least his testicals will have to drop fully.
