Don't even waste your time coming up with comebacks and insults. Its not worth the time put into it. The best thing you can do is ignore the person.

The best way to get better at anything is practice so obviously the answer to this question would be time and practice. The best way to practice is to just think about a given situation and then think of what you would say in response to the insult that was said to you. practice makers perfect.
