How can I get a laptop to project using an s-video cable?

First you need to connect the laptop and the other device using the s-video cable. If the other device doesn't have an s-video port, you will need to use a s-video to rca cable. Once the devices are connected, press fn + video mode (usually f4) on your laptop to switch between the output devices.

If your laptop has s-video out you can connnect the s-video cable from the s-video out port into the s-video in port. Many older TV's and projecters have s-video in ports. If no image appears on your external monitor/projector you should check the display settings in the control panel (windows) or settings (mac).

To avoid any problems you should connect the output device (like a Television or a Proyector) BEFORE turning the laptop on, and it will recognize the extra output device automatically. If the laptop is already on, you need to use the Display Configuration Tool that comes with the Graphics Card or the Windows Resolution Screen.

That depends on your laptop setup and the projector setup. If your laptop has an S-video output you can simply plug the cable into that and then run it to your projector. Otherwise you would likely be able to find an adapter from the laptop's VGA output

It depends what you are wanting it to project to. From an S-Video cable you can project the image from your laptop onto another computer screen or a television screen. Though an S-Video cable will not work to make you project through a traditional wall projector screen. You need a different cable to do that.

Simply plug the S-VIDEO cable into your projector and laptop, power them both on and hold the "Function" key (or FN) AND press the TV Icon usually F1 to F8.

You need to use a VGA to S-Video converter and a machine that supports S-Video input. Most laptops don't have the S-Video feature so an external All in One card might be the solution.
