The pressure must be relieved to prevent injury. This is done by removing the cap to remove vaporlock. The line needs to be cooled and removed without pressure to prevent it from deforming. Use a rag over connecting nut before removing the line to contain gasoline spray. Perform required maintenance. Replace gasoline line and allow pressure to be rebuilt.

Fixing a pressurized metal gasoline line is a bit tricky. First, since the line is metal, you need a metal weld or solder to fix it. And that means you must first ensure that all of the gasoline is out of the line. Typically, that means removing the line, draining the gasoline, soldering or welding, and replacing the line.

Cut out section of bad fuel line with a pipe cutting tool. Obtain new lines and two sets of male and female compression fittings. Flare ends of cut lines with a fuel line flaring tool (can rent for free at auto parts stores) after sliding fittings to cut ends. Connect the compression fittings with teflon tape.

In order to fix a pressurized gas line you must first release the pressure. Once this is done, cut or unscrew the line and replace it then let back in the pressure.
