Look at wikipedia for "Deutsche Mark" (if the coin was minted after 1948) or "Reichsmark" if it was before. Or ask another question where you give the information/text on the coin.

Start of with a basic internet search on eBay or another side which specializes in coins. Try to identify any distinguishing characteristics like its date, size, special markings, metal-composition, stamped figures, etc. Look around for comparable items. Then look up your local numismatist or coin collector. Most coin shops will do a free appraisal if you bring it in.

Try some foreign coin websites. Many will have pictures of various coins that you can search by country and year of mint. These sites will often list the approximate value of the coins as well.
