I would make sure the baby is well fed and in a fresh diaper after the previous feeding. Maybe give water for a few nights if he wakes to feed.

First, keep in mind that if your baby is waking after 6-8 hours, he may need to eat. However, if you are sure he is not hungry, try a pacifier.

Try providing your baby with a fedding right before you put them to bed and then make sure that he or she is not just in the habit of waking to eat in the night.

You could try giving extra feedings before you put your baby down for the night. The extra food before bedtime might help get the baby through the night. It also helps having someone other than you, if possible, comfort the baby if it wakes up during the night. Then the baby learns that the meal is not coming.
