Clean the coup, removing water and old bedding, then purchase poulty parasite treatment or insectiside and treat the coup thoroughly.Dusting the chickens with red mite dust just before dark can also help because the mites are nocturnal, repeat this every 7 days so that the next cycle of eggs can be killed.

Remove chickens from the coop along with the water and food. Clean the coop by discarding all old bedding. Treat entire coop with a commercial poultry parasite treatment. Include crevices.

There are products you can purchase to use in the nests and areas called poultry parasite treatment. These include Ravap, Rabon, and Permectrin. Remove food, water, chickens, and clean coops thoroughly. Use treatment according to directions and treat every inch, including roof and underneath boxes.

An insecticidal dust like Sevin dust is best. This can also be used on the chickens, paying extra attention to the vent area, and under their wings. Repeat the dusting 7 days later, as this will kill the next cycle of eggs that had already been laid.

Dust your chickens just before dark with red mite dust because the mites are usually nocturnal. Dust in and around coop as well. Wash out all areas and cracks in coop to keep off a return infestation.

The first thing you need to do is clean out the coop very througly. Next you can buy some insectiside at a feed and seed store that is safe.
