this is how synthetic diamonds are made they take coal and put it under thousands of tons of pressure and the coal reacts to the heat and pressure and it undergoes a physical change at the molecular level. after this happens it will create a man made diamond by using extreme heat and pressure

Laboratories make them using high pressure and heat to change the structure of graphite into a strong crystalline form. Many are made outdoors as well, explosives are placed around a piece of carbon and the pressure from the explosion makes diamonds in a fraction of a second.
