I have used a repair shop before, but I expect that experiences can vary between different companies. Just make sure that you pick a reputable company with good references from your friends or family to avoid having your console damaged.

Yes, I had a very good experience. I had a problem with the optical lens and they did a good job repairing it within a very short time.

The only time I have ever had a problem with our Playstation I went to Gamestop and traded it for another one. Only got a discount on referbed on.

I've never taken my Playstation 2 to a repair shop because I feel that those types of shops overcharge you. Also, I like to try and repair it myself.
