The quality of a product usually determines it's longevity. A cheaper made product will degrade faster costing you money in the long run when they need replaced later on.

In the span of a few years not really. However past a certain point in time it does. A higher quality shingle will last longer. This means the roof will need to be replaced less meaning it can save you money for the time you own the house.
