Does pyometra occur after surgery?

No, this is almost always the result of females who have not been spayed and gone through years of heat cycles. Surgery, ie spaying, would have prevented this life-threatening problem.

Pyometra is an infection of the Uterus. A Spay surgery is an ovario-hysterectomy, where the ovaries and uterus are removed. Therefor, there would be no possibility of developing pyometra since the uterus has been removed.

Pyometra is an infected uterus and usually occurs after a pregnancy or after a heat cycle. Technically it could occur after a surgery, but that wouldn't cause it.

Pyometra is said to occur in young and middle aged dogs. Usually, pyometra occurs when bacteria may enter the dogs body through infection. Depends on how surgery is conducted
