Yes, I am sorry, there is no way around it, but this procedure does hurt. However, it is quick and relieves bigger pain down the line.

Packing a dry socket can be very painful although pain medication is given during the procedure. It touches an already irritated socket and is irritating after the medication wears off.

Packing a dry socket is less painful than a dry socket itself. The packing will ease the discomfort because the chemicals located in it will help numb the nerve endings.

Dry Socket hurts in general. So I would suggest getting your dry socket fixed. Any pain that may occur is well worth it. You may feel some pain while they're packing your dry socket but it should go away. The Dentist may give you a prescription for pain meds.
