Does menstruation stop when you are in water?

I have heard this but think it might be an old wives' tale.

Though it may seem that menstruation stops in the water, it does not. There may be too much water to see the presence of blood, and this may lead women to believe that when submerged in water, a menstral period stops. It is simply not true.

Unfortunately it doesn't stop. If it did women would be staying in a bath or a pool for 4-7 days every month. We can dream though can't we? Seriously though, menstruation only stops for a few reasons: pregnancy, full menopause, some serious illnesses

It is an old wives' tale. Unless you're in the privacy of your own bathtub, wear a tampon to avoid embarrassment.
