Depending on what type of provider you selected for coverage, yes they do pay for it. United Healthcare in Maryland does pay for this surgery. I know this for a fact as I am getting it done. You need to call them and find out.

Normally no. definitely not. the only way that medicaid would pay for this is if you have written statements from doctors stating that your life is in jeapordy because of your condition. Then lap band will be considered. Othwerwise it is viewed as "cosmetic surgery" and this is not covered by medicaid
