It really depends on the person. I have seen blond hair with brunette highlights look great on the right person and with the right stylist.

No, I would not suggest this unless you are trying to go for a choppy look. This will look unnatural and out of place on all hair types. I would either get a lighter blonde highlight, or get really dark underlights so your hair is lighter on top.
