What did you clean it with? Did you knock something off the stem or bump the stem of the chime in any way? Go back and start all over.

It could be that some cleaning fluid got onto the main mechanism that controls the chiming. These parts have a very light lubricant applied, and cleaning removed the lubricant.

The cleaning solotion used for this brand in clockes, will leave a thicker consictancy on the sides and will not allow the clock to chime.

Some of the moving parts inside clocks are very sensitive and easily break or get misaligned. You might need to have it fixed by a professional.
