Most of the time the injection does not hurt much when they give it to you, but the symptoms that occur afterwards can hurt. Your arm or stomach may hurt.

The Depo Provera injection is a shot administered to the arm or buttocks. It hurts only as much as any shot and the pain is temporary. The pain is very minimal compared to the pain of pregnancy and child birth! Don't worry about the shot, worry about accidentally getting pregnant.
