Do you need any special stuff to keep a minnow as pet?

A tank with a filter, clean water, air pump, heater and a light. I would let your dad take the minnow as bait, and if you want to set up an aquarium, research a "community" tank. They are very good learning tools as well as being very entertaining. Your entire family will enjoy it.

To keep a minnow alive long enough to grow would require lots, and lots of special care. If they are new minnows then the odds of keeping them alive are low. If they're big enough to determine the breed of fish... Just keep them in a big tank. Feed well.

That's so cute! All you need is a freshwater fish tank, some gravel, any decorations you might want, and some fish food. Minnows are freshwater fish, so they don't need any special accomodations.
