Question by  Krystal (-2)

Do you have to work on your own while volunteering as a Peace Corps worker?

I am thinking about joining the Peace Corps but don't want to be by myself.

When you work as a Peace Corps worker, you usually do not work on your own. Peace Corps workers often visit the location where they are working with 3 or 4 other workers. The other workers have often been working there for a long amount of time already, so overtime they are rotated in and out.

Joining the peace corps is a very rewarding experience, but it is not an easy one. You probably wouldn't be working completely by yourself, but you also probably wouldn't be surrounded by a bunch of other Americans. A recruiter should be able to address your specific concerns.

Peace Corps volunteers generally work in groups so you should be fine. You won't be left alone in a village somewhere and be told to fend for yourself.

When you join the Peace Corps, you are paid a living stipend; you don't need another job. And members are deployed with program groups, so you are not alone.
