Yes you do, like anything else of a bounty hunter or private detective gig you need a license. To obtain one you need to go to your county court house and see what your state's laws are regarding repo men and what is expected of them. Next you will probably need to enroll in a class.

Most states require some kind of certification. Usually the business needs to be certified, but in some states, each individual needs a license. Starting out with an established company is probably the easiest way to get into it. If you need an individual license, they can tell you how to get it before they hire you on.
