No, they don't make half-cents anymore. The half cent coin was only minted from 1793 until 1857. There has even been a lot of talk about discontinuing the penny as it is so irrelevant in the current market. The best example of where a half cent might be used is in buying gasoline.

The half cent coin was minted from 1793. And they stopped making half cents in 1875 because the cost of making it had exceeded its face value. Now they are not making any half cent coins.
