Yes, the New Israel Shekel (NIS) is the currency used in Israel. It is commonly called the "shekel" in singular and "shkalim" in plural. The exchange rate is currently 3.7 shkalim to the US dollar. People only use this currency in Israel and tourists can exchange their own currency upon arrival in Israel.
