Yes, especially when you are trying to straighten it. When a woman is pregnant, their hair won't take as well when straightening, same thing for birth control

There is a chemical in your body that affects your hair. Naturally if you are taking hormones of any sort it will effect the way your hair looks.

Oh, absolutely. With certain things such as a monthly visitor in women it can be mild relaxing of curl or possibly frizzing. With pregnancy hormones it could be anything from complete straightening to wild curls to looking like you've been hooked up to a car battery for three days. (The last happened to my sister. ) Hope that helps a little.
