Female mice can fight especially at times when they feel threatened. If one, or more than one has had a litter for example they may fight instinctively. Another reason for their fighting would be if the habitat was too small for them to live in together harmoniously. Be sure they have enough room!

Normally, no, female mice are very accepting of eachother. It is better if you keep two, as they enjoy the company. Male mice are more likely to fight than females.
