Even when you are healthy your cholesterol levels will keep changing. As you grow, especially if your diet is unhealthy, you levels may increase. As there are no external signs of an increase even healthy people need to get it checked every two years once they are 35 years old.

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, some studies suggest that cholesterol levels may rise in the fall and winter. Over time, cholesterol levels may go up or down 10% from one month to the other. This variation is due to human metabolism, which also tends to change over the years.
