No there are some model car kits that use wooden pieces as well as model car kits that use metal pieces to make the model. The metal ones are sometimes soda cans. They make unique model cars.

Some model car kits use plastic pieces because plastic is lighter then any other metal.Plastic is cheap and it can easily be reproduced. On other hand it does not rust.

Most model car kits use plastic pieces because plastic is les expencive and can easely be reproduced. It is also lighter then any metal and does not rust as the metal. But it is weaker then metal it breaks verry easely and true the years is breaks of due to corrosion

Most model car kits have mostly plastic pieces. Sometimes banners, flags and decals are made of vinyl or even cloth. There may be expensive kits that are wooden.
