If you have an underactive thyroid there is a chance that it could cause constipation, but usually once you're on the right level of medication you're ok.

Hypothyroidism slows the metabolism down, but constipation is caused by not have enough fibre in your diet and by some medications.

A low level of thyroid hormone in your blood can cause constipation. Other symptoms of low thyroid are weight gain (without increase in appetite), dry skin, thinning, brittle hair, and increase cold intolerance.
