Can you use your psp to pick up free internet?

You can use your psp to browse the internet as long as you use an open network or have a network key. You can find wifi "hotspots" throughout most cities where you can simply connect and browse. Some network require a security key to connect to them though. Just keep looking and eventuallly you should find an open one.

If there are open unsecured networks around you then yes you can use the internet for free. You just have to be close enough to get a good signal.

No you can't do this on your PSP since it's not like a cell phone equipped with a wireless internet.

The PSP has built-in wi-fi, so you need to be in range of a wireless internet signal to be able to access internet on the PSP. You can go to wi-fi hotspots and get internet access there on your PSP.
