Can you substitute cornstarch for tapioca in baking?

Yes, same measurements. Mix corn starch in with sugar to avoid lumps or sprinkle it on the fruit and let it disolve in the fruit juices.

No you cannot substitute cornstarch for tapioca because tapioca is a pudding rice and cornstarch is used as a thickening agent.

Yes, but the taste may be a bit altered and the product may be a bit dry. Add a little extra liquid to make up the moisture.

Assuming you are talking about thickeners for pie fillings, etc - yes you can, but the end result won't be quite as good. Substitute cornstarch for tapioca measure for measure.
