You will need to uninstall the software, then reinstall it. Also, if you're using XP or vista, ensure that you're running the application as an administrator. Additionally, you may want to consider contacting the manufacturer of xp antivirus and seeing if this is a known issue. If so, there is likely a quick fix available.

Well my best solution would be to go to accessories and go to the system restore and then system restore to a date where you think that wininet dll was registered.

wininet.dll is a module that contains internet-related functions used by windows applications, why you want to remove it ? and this error shows that you have unlegit version of windows so don't worry and just ignore this error

I would download a free, trusted antivirus such as malwarebytes. Scan and clean any viruses/spyware that come up. If this does not eliminate the problem, I would download ccleaner and use the registry scan tool. This will allow you to fix any errors that pop up, such as programs that have been deleted with registered registry entries.

First uninstall the software and then reinstall it. Always do this first before troubleshooting with anything. Restart the computer in Administrator mode before testing.

If you went into C: \ Windows \ System32 you'll see two DLLs:"shlwapi.dll respectiv wininet.dll".You can not delete it "simply" have to write the first time in cmd:"rgsvr32 /u shlwapi.dll" and "regsvr32 /u wininet.dll".Where "/ u"comes from Unregister. Then you must to close next proc.contact me if you want more
