Most laptops have buttons that enable or disable the on-board LCD display. This button usually has an icon that looks like a monitor.

if the video for your computer is not working it has no display, and the common indications that the video is notworking is a short beeping sound coming from the cpu once you try to open it, you have an option to open your cpu and remove the videocard and insert it back again.
